The Finance Manager, Manufacturing Operations leads financial oversight for 27 North American manufacturing sites, ensuring accurate product costing, strong financial controls, and clear visibility into operational performance. This role partners closely with Operations leadership, drives cost discipline, leads forecasting and planning for manufacturing, and manages a team of two analysts responsible for plant financials, costing, and performance reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead financial management for 27 manufacturing sites, including conversion costs, labor, overhead, inventory, and working capital.
- Oversee product costing governance, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation.
- Manage monthly close, reporting, and financial performance reviews for manufacturing operations.
- Develop manufacturing forecasts, annual operating plans, and long‑range cost visibility.
- Establish and maintain KPIs for plant performance (cost per unit, yield/scrap, efficiency, absorption).
- Partner with Operations and Supply Chain on decisions related to capacity, sourcing, make‑vs‑buy, and network optimization.
- Evaluate and govern capital investments, ensuring strong ROI, payback analysis, and post‑implementation tracking.
- Maintain financial controls and JSOX compliance across all sites; serve as primary contact for internal/external audits.
- Identify cost gaps, inefficiencies, and underperforming sites; drive corrective actions with plant leadership.
- Lead, coach, and develop two Finance Analysts supporting manufacturing and costing activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 10+ years of accounting/finance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 5+ years of budgeting and forecasting experience.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting, GAAP, and manufacturing financial controls.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non‑finance partners.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines independently.
