Acts as a member of the patient care service are Leadership Team and collaborates with and guides the interdisciplinary team members in achieving patient outcomes
Mount Sinai Brooklyn Nurse Manager / RN - Emergency Department – Evenings (some weekends)
- Assists the Nurse Director in assigning patient care activities for 75FTEs
- Reviews clinical performance of nursing personnel via anecdotal records, conferences and evaluation process. Participates in the Department of Nursing’s and the Hospital Center’s Quality Improvement Program
- Serves as a resource person for the nursing staff within the unit or other units.
- Serves as a preceptor role model in the clinical setting for staff and affiliating students. Participates in the selection of staff members who may serve as preceptors.
- Assists in the planning and monitoring of the unit budget in conjunction with the Director, Nursing.

- Nourishes the motivation and commitments essential to achieving the hospital’s mission, goals, standards, policies in a patient-centered model of care delivery system
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned area
- Maintains patient/employee confidentiality in the management of information
- Assesses data to determine the process, technology, personnel and facility needed to deliver care in a designated patient care area
- Formulates objective, measurable goals consistent with the Hospitals’ mission, vision and patient care principles
- Interviews, hires/terminates, disciplines, rewards and evaluates patient care staff
- Conducts care team performance evaluations and facilitates peer evaluation
- Analyzes patient length of stay compared to established benchmarks
- Modifies delivery system as indicated
- Monitors selection and use of unit supplies, technology, equipment
- Utilizes appropriate resources and departments to facilitate unit operations
- Participates in a unit based QI program
- Achieves successful compliance with regulatory agency standards
- Assures staff understanding of and compliance with infection control mandates
- Conducts/facilitates leadership and care team meetings, demonstrates ability to achieve meeting outcomes
- Facilitates and promotes staff participation in research activities appropriate to specialty area as available
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing required; Master’s degree in nursing preferred (enrollment in a program will be considered); CEN preferred
- Current NY State Registered Nurse license and registration certificate
- Five years of clinical experience including progressive management experience/success
- Demonstrated competence in nursing leadership. Experience and demonstrated competency in applicable clinical specialty. Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional growth and development. Eligibility for joint appointment with University affiliation.

- Licensed and currently registered as a professional nurse in New York State
