Assistant Nurse Manager, Full Time, Ambulatory Surgery Center, Rockaway NJ

Atlantic Heath System is seeking an experienced Assistant Nurse Manager to work FULL TIME for the PACU/Preop/Phase II Recovery at the MMC Ambulatory Surgery Center in Rockaway, NJ and to work variable shifts between the hours of 6AM - 7PM.
Candidate will be responsible for working with other healthcare professionals to help treat patients undergoing ambulatory surgery and other procedures including but not limited to; Colonoscopies, Ortho sports and minor trauma, Ortho hand, GYN, Laparoscopic, Plastics, Urology, General, Rectal, Podiatry, Pediatrics. Monitors patients, administers medications, keeps records, consults with healthcare providers, educates patients and more.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Possesses positive communication skills and remains a positive influencer while promoting the PRIDE values of the organization.
- Experience with Quality initiatives, unit rounding, patient safety reporting, action plans, and documentation auditing.
- Possesses excellent time management and multitasking skills to facilitate patient movement throughout the perioperative phases.
- Experience with Magnet, Joint commission and NJDOH regulatory requirements in preparation for inspections and in collaboration with the Nurse Manager.
- Experience with team evaluations, peer review and disciplinary action processes in collaboration with the Nurse Manager.
- Proven ability to coach teams and provide opportunities to facilitate teamwork.
- Maintains AHS nursing practice guidelines by reviewing, revising and updating policies and procedures.
- Maintains nursing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
- Assures quality of care by developing and interpreting hospital and nursing division's philosophies and standards of care; enforcing adherence to state board of nursing and state nurse practice act requirements and to other governing agency regulations; measuring health outcomes against standards; making or recommending adjustments.
- Maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training nurses and auxiliary staff and following up on work results. Ensures adequate nurse to patient ratios.
- Protects patients and employees by developing and interpreting infection-control policies and protocols, enforcing medication administration, storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
- Collaborates with Nurse Manager to achieve financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Assesses, implements, plans, or evaluates patient nursing care plans by working with healthcare team members.
- Participates in Shared Governance, AHS subcommittees, unit projects and quality initiatives, as required.
- Collaborates with Nurse Manager and Unit Educator in high reliability organization training, staff competencies and patient experience maximization strategies.
- Performs as the acting Administrator and acting Nurse Manager of the surgery center in the absence of the Nurse Manager.
- Assists in payroll functions and staff scheduling, as required.
- Performs any other indirect or direct patient care related duties, as needed.
Minimum Education:
- BSN required
- MSN preferred
Minimum Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in perioperative nursing management and Preop/PACU Nursing
- Ambulatory surgery center management experience preferred
- Basic arrythmias/dysrhythmias
- EPIC EMR
Licenses/Certifications:
- Valid New Jersey Nursing License Required
- BLS required
- ACLS required
- PALS required
- CPAN and CAPA required
