Ultrasound Technologists use imaging devices that emit sound waves to create an image that will help physicians assess and diagnose various conditions. There are different kinds of imaging devices; this includes ultrasounds, sonograms, and echocardiograms. Generally, sonographic imaging devices use a handheld probe, which is moved over the area being surveyed to create a two-dimensional or three-dimensional image. These devices can be used for therapy, diagnosis and even to guide interventional procedures like biopsies or draining fluid collections.
By joining the Cleveland Clinic team as an Ultrasound Technologist, you will get to work one-on-one with our patients to ensure quality diagnosis and treatment. This role will support the Emergency Department and Ambulatory areas for the St. Lucie West and Tradition sites. This opportunity will allow you to advance your skills, add additional experience and even lead to leadership roles down the line.
A PRN caregiver in this position works varying 8- or 12-hour shifts, with availability Monday-Friday and for rotating on-call and weekend coverage. The team floats to support the operations of the Emergency Department and Ambulatory offices, requiring the availability to work these variable shifts 24x7.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Perform routine imaging, emergent and invasive procedures to detect pathology.
Safely operate equipment and maintain standards while performing procedures.
Provide copies of imaging studies.
Complete and ensure that all electronic data is sent to its appropriate destination.
Inspect equipment to ensure proper orientation and contact service if necessary.
Document in charts upon completion of procedures.
Coordinate and answer questions regarding scheduling, patient information, networking and informatics.
