Brief Overview of Position

The Head of Commercial and Consumer Banking Compliance is a key advisory position responsible for overseeing and administering the Bank’s Regulatory Compliance Program for the Commercial Banking, Consumer Banking and Treasury businesses (the “Program”),  the Compliance Program as it relates to enterprise-wide regulations, as well as the Fair & Responsible Banking Program. The responsibilities of this role also include identifying and managing strategic goals and corporate initiatives and overseeing that business processes and controls are compliant with and support adherence with applicable laws, regulations and internal policy.

This role reports to the Texas Capital's Chief Compliance Officer and is part of the Corporate Compliance Department.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, execute and oversee an effective Compliance Program by enabling the identification, communication and operationalization of applicable federal and state commercial and consumer banking regulations; fostering an understanding of associated compliance risks across the organization, as applicable; and influencing the development of suitable risk mitigation strategies
  • Act as a trusted advisor and primary subject matter expert to/for internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide oversight of relevant business (first-line-of-defense) and independent risk management (second-line of defense) Compliance polices, procedures, practices and controls   
  • Manage a 5-8 person team of subject matter experts
  • Drive and influence compliance enhancements at all levels of the business consistent with the Bank’s risk profile
  • Act as a key liaison during regulatory exams, internal audits, and 2LOD testing
  • Assist in the execution of and act as key advisor for the Bank’s Regulatory Compliance Risk Assessments
  • Identify compliance risk across the organization and drive and influence corresponding transformation of control environment
  • Serve as lead regulatory change management subject matter expert in all aspects of the Program and oversee the implementation and operationalization of all relevant regulatory changes
  • Design and deliver management reporting on KRIs, KPIs, and any significant developments within the Program
  • Prepare and deliver training materials
  • Maintain knowledge of latest industry guidelines and best practices
  • Manage departmental expenses and annual budget
  • Recruit, train, and retain talent within the department
  • Partner effectively across all levels of the organization and develop positive working relationships
