As a Principal Embodied AI Engineer, you will be a technical leader responsible for designing and implementing advanced AI systems for perception, control, and decision-making in Genie Lift’s intelligent equipment. You will collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to architect scalable, real-time AI solutions for autonomous and semi-autonomous industrial applications. This role requires deep expertise in AI, robotics, and embedded intelligence to push the boundaries of industrial automation. 

What you’ll do

  • Define and lead the technical vision for AI-driven perception, control, and decision-making systems in Genie Lift’s intelligent machinery. 
  • Architect and develop advanced machine learning and computer vision algorithms for object detection, pose estimation, and autonomous navigation. 
  • Design AI-driven human-machine interaction (HMI) and adaptive control systems for safer and more intuitive operator experiences. 
  • Lead research and development efforts on reinforcement learning, deep learning, and behavior-based AI for real-time embedded applications. 
  • Optimize AI models for edge deployment, real-time processing, and power efficiency. 
  • Guide the integration of AI with embedded systems, industrial IoT, and sensor fusion technologies. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with industrial safety standards and regulatory requirements. 
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and researchers in AI methodologies and best practices. 
  • Contribute to patents, research publications, and industry thought leadership. 

What you’ll bring

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related field. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in place of a formal degree.
  • 7+ years of experience in AI-driven robotics, embodied intelligence, or autonomous systems development. 
  • Strong proficiency in Python and C++, with experience in ROS (Robot Operating System) and real-time embedded systems. 
  • Deep knowledge of reinforcement learning, computer vision, sensor fusion, and motion planning algorithms. 
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and technical mentorship abilities. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with AI safety, explainable AI, and human-robot collaboration. 
  • Expertise in SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping), path planning, and advanced control systems. 
  • Knowledge of industrial safety standards (ISO 13849, ANSI B56.5, etc.). 
  • Experience deploying AI models to the cloud and edge computing environments. 
  • Previous leadership experience in an AI, robotics, or automation-focused team. 
  • Experience with industrial automation, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), or heavy machinery. 
  • Track record of designing and deploying AI models in production environments. 
  • Experience developing training models for physics based simulation in tools such as Isaac Sim 
  • Experience working with the Nvidia Jeston family 
  • Deep understanding of design tradeoffs and uses between manipulator designs 
  • Deep understanding of the design and function of a 7 DOF robotic arm 
  • Deep understanding of AI model selection, training and optimization techniques 
    Familiarity with industrial automation, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), or heavy machinery 
  • Understanding version control (Git), unit testing, debugging, and performance optimization.
