AI Annotation Team Manager

Who are we:SewerAI is changing the way cities maintain their infrastructure by utilizing massive amounts of video data and AI/ML. We are looking for a Annotation Team Manager to join our team who is dedicated to quality and efficiency, producing data that helps SewerAI deliver real-time insights to cities around the world.
About The JobWe are looking for a data manager to own our entire annotation process, managing both an internal team of technicians as well as coordinating and overseeing outsourced projects. You will work closely with the AI Engineering team to develop project requirements and coordinate data management. Our data needs are varied and often updated as we work to improve our models, so you will need to be able to quickly learn and then train your team on new tasks.

Preferred qualifications

• 3+ years experience managing a machine learning focused data annotation team
• Experience managing outsourced annotation projects, including contract negotiation, pricing, setting SLAs, and quality assurance
• Strong technical skills with regards to annotation, quality assurance, and worker management tools
• Familiarity with standard image and video annotation types — labels, bounding boxes, polygons, segmentation masks, tracks
• Strong verbal and written skills, ability to communicate effectively with all levels throughout the organization
• Results driven, with strong analytical and problem solving skills

Willingness to learn

• Domain knowledge about the wastewater industry and the pipe inspection process (As part of onboarding you will get training in NASSCO sewer inspection standards)
• Become an expert in the SewerAI annotation process, pipeline, and toolset

Responsibilities

• Gather project requirements and formulate project timelines
• Manage our internal team of AI data technicians, tracking progress and quality
• Coordinate between technicians and engineers to ensure data is being annotated to spec
• Gather quotes, produce cost estimates, and ultimately manage projects with external labeling services
• Produce documentation and training materials
• Manage hiring for the team
