Description

At Eye Specialist of Napa Valley, we are seeking a full-time Medical Receptionist to join our dynamic team!

The ideal candidate must be able to provide an atmosphere of comfort to our patient and their family; therefore, strong hospitality skills and patient care focus is a must.


This is a Monday - Friday, Day shift. No Weekends, and No Holidays!

Some of the duties and responsibilities include:

  • Answers incoming telephone calls in a professional and pleasant manner.
  • Maintains pre-admission files.
  • Prepares patient's charts prior to the patient’s admission.
  • Gathers all chart forms and types identifying patient data on each sheet of the chart.
  • Prepares patient's chart file complete with name, doctor’s name, and patient number for identification.
  • Checks and verifies all information for accuracy and authenticity and makes any changes as indicated.
  • Attaches any notification necessary on the patient’s chart-i.e. deposits required, etc.
  • Greets patients on the day of admissions and reviews patient data for accuracy.
  • Instruct and have the patient sign insurance consignment forms.
  • Completes receipt for the patient when accepting a deposit or complete payment for the surgical procedure.
  • Contacts Admitting nurse when the patient has completed the business office admitting procedure.
  • Obtains patient record after discharge and prepares for filing.
  • Reviews records for completeness.
  • Places incomplete charts in physician’s file for signatures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Report any adverse incidents to the administrator.
  • Sitting, standing, and walking a considerable amount of on-duty time.
  • Work in a well-lighted and ventilated area with light equipment none of which is hazardous in nature.

Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ophthalmology background preferred.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus!
  • 1+ years of experience in medical setting preferably in ophthalmology field.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite and various online applications. 
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Strong Phone Etiquette.
  • Friendly and outgoing, with strong hospitality skills and patient care knowledge.
  • Able to multitask.
