The Department of Economic Security, Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Nurse- Direct Care Setting. DDD provides individuals with developmental disabilities and their families with services and supports that are flexible, high quality, and member-driven. These services provide individuals with opportunities to exercise their rights and responsibilities of independent decision-making and engagement in the community.

Applicants for this position cannot be licensed or certified by the DDD Office of Licensing, Certification and Regulation, cannot have a principal interest in or have a spouse or close family with principal interest in a DDD Qualified Vendor Agreement, and cannot be employed or subcontracted by a DDD Qualified Vendor.

Job Duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
● Drives to Intermediate Care Facilities several times a week to meet with members with developmental disabilities, completes nursing assessments to determine member health needs; makes appropriate nursing diagnosis and submits it to designated departments.
● Participates in fact-finding related to medical issues; completes monitoring of medical care, monitors medical administration systems; provides feedback.
● Notes orders and prepares reports for basic care, nursing assessments, and Individual Support Plans (ISPs).
● Completes utilization review on caseload and document on-going medical needs; submits to designated department; participates in discharge and admission planning.
● Examines and analyzes medical records and charts to ensure quality care.
● Develops educational material and provides training classes for staff at office locations. Attends required meetings, driving to training and meeting locations as necessary.
● Assists with problem-solving related to medical policies and procedures. Participates in the development of policies and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge in:
● Nursing theory and practice, especially regarding individuals with developmental disabilities
● Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID) and State Licensing requirements. ● State Nurse Practice Act
● Title XIX federal regulations and licensing standards
● Agency and Division State-Operated Services policy and procedures
● Member condition and medical/physical changing care needs
● Interdisciplinary team planning process

● Nursing assessment (all skills allowed by scope of practice)
● Providing appropriate treatment in emergency situations
● Making sound medical decisions
● Time Management & Interpersonal communication
● Developing, analyzing, and implementing treatment care plans
● Effective problem-solving

Ability to:
● Listen, observe, assess, and respond to medical emergencies
● Make independent decisions regarding member health concerns
● Present training material in a clear and precise manner
● Respond to medical issues/inquires in a professional manner
● Work with professional and non-professional staff to ensure the health
