Job Description
Primary Purpose: (Individual has the authority and responsibility to complete assigned tasks)
The Principal Supplier Quality Engineer drives customer satisfaction and continual improvement in accomplishing ESA’s strategic plan through monitoring, managing and resolving issues related to Supplier quality performance. The Principal SQE is proficient in developing Supplier relationships, auditing Supplier’s capabilities, capacities, products, processes and procedures, coaching Supplier improvements, leading the disposition of Supplier rejections, and coordinating Supplier corrective actions. The Principal SQE follows trends in the Industry to identify opportunities, waste, and inefficiencies and proposes suggestions on how to act on these trends.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
This is not intended to be all-inclusive, and employees will be required to carry out any and all duties necessary for the needs of the organization.
- Conduct Source Inspections, Incoming Receiving Inspections, and Material Surveys to ensure internal and external customers quality and technical requirements are adhered to by Suppliers
- Review Supplier First Article Inspections (FAI’s) IAW AS9102
- Assign, monitor and close Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR’s) while ensuring appropriate Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) has been identified and addressed to reduce and/or eliminate future occurrence
- Issue and disposition Non-Conforming Material Reports (NCR’s)
- Initiate and participate in Continuous Improvement activities to improve Supplier performance, productivity, and processes
- Monitor quality performance metrics for assigned Suppliers and develop Return to Green Plans
- Lead activities such as Supplier qualification, Supplier development, and Supplier Zero Defect Programs (ZDP)
- Ensure compliance of suppliers through leading and participating in supplier audits and identify and manage Supplier risks
- Coach Supplier Operations Team members on Quality Management System requirements and best practices
- Lead the Material Review Board (MRB)
- Provides expertise and guidance in interpreting policies, regulatory and/or governmental regulations, agency guidelines, and customer and/or government requirements to ensure compliance within internal Supplier Quality Engineering Procedures
- Accountable for building Supplier partnerships in the deployment of lean, high quality, high velocity supply chain practices
Authorities:
- Completes tasks with no Manager oversight
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Provide mentoring to assigned Suppliers
- Provide mentoring to team members
- Collaborate with internal ESA/ESL organizations to identify solutions

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Required
Education (Highest Level Required/Preferred):
- Master's Degree Preferred
- Bachelor's Degree Required
Specific Degree Field, only if required: Engineering/Manufacturing or equivalent Technical degree
Certifications/Licenses:
Preferred: Certified Internal Auditor
ASQ-CQE, CQA, or equivalent
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
Experience Required in Years
- Functional (Using Skill Set) - 10 years
- Industry - 5- 10 years
