Job Summary:Works as a member of the Production Team (Sterile and Non-Sterile Compounding) under the direction of a pharmacist and in coordination with the other technicians. Activities include Intravenous admixture preparation both small and large volume parenteral admixtures, Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) using proper aseptic technique, non-sterile compounding, Inventory management and Repackaging of oral medications. Delivers medications as needed. Attends periodic area meetings.

How You'll Impact Patient Care:

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Helps pharmacists prepare and process medication orders to make sure patients and departments get the right medications on time and are charged correctly.
  • Works well with others and organizes daily tasks for maximum efficiency.
  • Helps keep medicine stock in good condition so that quality drugs and supplies are always available.
  • Offers pharmacy services in patient care areas.
  • Takes part in team efforts to improve quality and supports the Pharmacy Department's commitment to Total Quality principles.
  • Keeps knowledge and skills up to date and helps educate others.
  • Sets personal goals to support quality improvement and departmental objectives.
  • Follows hospital standards to create a positive work environment through good communication, relationships, and teamwork.
  • Provides care tailored to different age groups as per Age Specific Care Guidelines.

What You Will Need

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • PTCB/NHA technician certification (CPhT) required.
  • North Carolina Board of Pharmacy registration as a pharmacy technician required within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Have (Not Required)

  • Successful completion of a formal technician training program preferred.
  • One-year previous pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Diploma or associate's degree in pharmacy technology preferred.
  • Sterile compounding experience strongly preferred.
