<strong>How you will impact Southern States Cooperative:</strong></div>

<ul>
<li>Ensure food products are handled/stored in compliance with safety practices. Ensure foods retain their flavor, freshness and nutritional value.</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>Maintain sanitation, safety and hygiene standards to include frequent hand washing, cleaning and sanitizing the workstation, equipment, utensils, trays, counter tops, etc.</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>Set up workstation with all needed ingredients and cooking utensils/equipment.</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>Inspect and prepare ingredients for cooking (washing, shredding, grating, chopping, peeling, dicing, blending, cutting, etc.).</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>Check food while cooking (flipping, stirring, microwaving, brewing, steaming, frying, etc.).</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>Ensure appropriate and pleasant appearance of items before they are served to the customer.</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>Prepare all food and beverage items as directed in a safe, sanitary and timely manner.</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>Fill in for other kitchen staff employees when needed.</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>Follow recipes, portion and presentation specifications.</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>Ensure the kitchen stays clean, organized and free of hazards.</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>Receive/re-stock items (cups, plates, utensils, condiments, coffee items, etc.) as needed throughout the shift. May assist with unloading of deliveries.</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>Stack, rinse, soak and wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils.</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>Sell food items. Take forms of payment using cash register and/or credit card machine. Complete customer transactions accurately and effectively.</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>Flex to adjusted menu items, substitutions and pricing (as determined by the Kitchen and/or Assistant Kitchen Manager) based on seasonal availability and demand.</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>Report any issues encountered to the Kitchen and/or Assistant Kitchen Manager.</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>Perform daily housekeeping duties (sweeping, mopping, cleaning, trash removal, etc.).</li>
</ul>

<strong>What you need to succeed:</strong>

<strong>Education</strong>: High school diploma or equivalent. Servesafe certification is preferred.</div>

<div><br />
<strong>Experience</strong>: Prior experience in a similar convenience store or fast food position.</div>

<ul>
<li>Knowledge of food handling, preparation and storage</li>
<li>Ability to read order tickets and prepare/serve food accordingly</li>
<li>Knowledge of and ability to operate kitchen equipment</li>
<li>Knowledge and execution of thawing, labeling and rotation procedures</li>
<li>Well versed in cooking temperatures and time</li>
<li>Ability to understand and follow written/verbal instructions and procedures</li>
<li>Familiarity with kitchen sanitation and safety regulations</li>
<li>Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment</li>
<li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills</li>
<li>Flexibility and ability to work calmly/efficiently with frequent interruptions</li>
<li>Ability to multi-task</li>
<li>Customer service oriented and good work ethic</li>
<li>Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively as part of a team</li>
<li>Knowledge and use of fire extinguishers</li>
<li>Willing to work a flexible schedule including holidays, evenings and weekends</li>
