Schedule: Hybrid position with 2-3 days on site at Virtua Voorhees location at 200 Bowman Dr.

Summary:

Serves as the primary provider of psychosocial care to cancer patients and their families.  Responsible for the psychosocial assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring and support of patients through the continuum of their cancer care from diagnosis to survivorship or end of life. Using appropriate utilization of resources and maintain compliance. Utilizes independent critical thinking and collaborates with multidisciplinary team to address patient’s psychosocial needs. 

Position is full time. Primary focus for this role is supporting medical oncology and radiation oncology patients. Will collaborate closely with two other Oncology LCSWs in the department.

Position Responsibilities:

• Serves as the psychosocial service coordinator for the oncology program. Required to oversee all distress screening activities for the provision of psychosocial care which is a required component of the cancer program. To incorporate the screening of distress into the standard of care for oncology patients.

• Identifies psychological, social, financial, insurance, spiritual, and behavioral issues that may interfere with the patient’s treatment plans and adversely affect treatment outcomes.

• Provides program development and coordination of survivorship care which is a required component of the cancer program.  Responsible for development and implementation of cancer support groups.

• Responds to clinical social work consults as referred by physicians, professional staff, and other team members. Administers suicidal assessments and crisis support in the outpatient setting.

• Provides need based one on one psychotherapy sessions to individuals and their family members utilizing the following treatment modalities: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Gestalt therapy, Family-Based Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

• Completes thorough assessment and mini mental status exam for all patients engaging in a therapeutic interaction.

• Addresses any psychosocial issue that may present as a barrier to care throughout treatment utilizing research informed practice to increase patient functioning.

• Follows NASW guidelines for clinical documentation while upholding confidentiality, ensuring that record keeping adheres to state mandated procedures.
