Your Impact as Safety, Health, Environment Coordinator
Responsible and accountable for leading the environmental, health and safety initiatives in support of the business requirements. Ensure environmental and safety compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within environmental, health, safety and associated areas. Direct safety training activity for new hires and annual training requirements for all areas of the plant. Ensure compliance with all applicable safety and environmental federal, state and local regulations. Drive incident/accident free work place initiative through education, training, coaching and other initiatives to create a culture of ownership for safety within the workforce/facility according to Bekaert Corporate standards and policies. Establish the necessary work environment, processes, practices, and staffing to support achievement of established targets.
Your Essential Job Functions
- Responsible for design and deployment of SHE programs and ensures full SHE compliance and continual improvement in all areas.
- Manages Wastewater reporting to ensure compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory standards.
- Maintain and monitor all SH&E programs currently in place and recommended by Global SHE to implement viable changes to increase their effectiveness.
- Spearhead efforts to communicate to employees about specific efforts on behalf of the Company in relationship to ISO, OHSAS, OSHA, quality, SH&E, etc. and to follow-up/document their understanding of each.
- Maintain, enforce, and update all SH&E policies/procedures
- Participate, in conjunction with the relevant Supervisor, during investigations into all accidents, incidents, and near misses.
- Perform safety inspections, audits and GEMBA’s for projects to determine compliance with all internal and external standards.
- Develop, in conjunction with Supervisors/Managers safe work procedures.
- Create in-house training lessons utilizing the root cause analysis and identified corrective actions learned from investigations to prevent reoccurrence of similar incidents.
- Deliver Safety training/presentations, including OSHA 10, 30, new employee orientation and other safety training as needed and/or required by OSHA, local, state, federal and jobsite safety standards.
- Supervise and coordinate training department to creating/update policies, procedures, and manuals, perform/schedule training, OSHA conferences, and ensure proper maintenance of trainings and training records for SH&E requirements.
- Communicate risks and hazards and lead/support risk assessments and action planning.
- Ensure environmental compliance (permits, clean air, lead audits, wastewater, etc.).
- Champion a No Harm to Anyone safety culture.
- Ensure safety, health and environmental policies and procedures are up to date, understood, available to all employees, and adopted by Department Managers.
- Ensure statutory reporting requirements are up to date and required documentation is maintained in a central, accessible location. Review and update on a regular basis
- Communicate new initiatives and requirements to managers and aid in meeting those initiatives and requirements.
