People Operations Generalist

KarmaCheck is a technology startup based out of San Francisco and founded by one of the pioneers of the internet industry, Eric Ly, who was a Co-founder and CTO at LinkedIn. We’re on a mission to bring truth to the internet by enabling digital identity verification in a new way. We’re starting by disrupting the antiquated Background Check industry, with a focus on healthcare. We’ve built proprietary technology which uses automation, machine learning, and data to create efficient turnaround times and cost effective solutions across all kinds of background checks, which will ultimately power the digital identity use cases of tomorrow.
About the opportunity: We’re in hyper-growth, building and scaling a business to disrupt the antiquated background check industry, delivering comprehensive solutions to healthcare credentialing, and innovating in the area of digital identity.
We are seeking a self-motivated, service-oriented individual who wants to be part of an evolving team in a dynamic, collaborative company. You will be supporting our Karmrades in all areas of People such as recruiting, HRIS, benefits, policy development, performance management, employment law compliance, employee relations, event organization, and talent development.

What you’ll do:

• HRIS maintenance & assistance with US payroll administration using HiBob and ADP, respectively
• Creating and maintaining internal HR forms and processes as needed 
• Assist in the end-to-end recruitment process, including job postings, resume screening, interview coordination, and candidate communication
• Support the new hire onboarding process, preparing necessary documents, conducting orientation sessions, and facilitating a smooth transition for new employees
• Handling employee benefits management, open enrollment, and benefits questions, and assist with new employee onboarding
• Providing support and guidance to management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations. 
• Maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. 
• Contribute to various HR projects as assigned, such as employee engagement initiatives, annual performance review process, policy updates, and training and development programs
• Create and execute employee events that help maintain an inclusive culture

Required Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of progressive experience in Human Resources/People Operations including at least 1 year managing end to end recruitment.
• Strong ability to work autonomously and stay up to date with shifting business priorities
• Start up experience is a big plus!
• Strong working knowledge of employment laws and practices.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and coaching skills.
• Proficiency using HRIS systems and Google Suite
• Meticulously organized

• The expected base compensation for this role is between $65,000 and $80,000 for work performed in the United States. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include seniority level, experience level, transferable skills, education, location, business needs, training, and market demands. This range may be modified in the future.
