Job Description:

If so, The Logistics and Support Services (LSS) team at Iowa State University is seeking a Logistics Specialist II!

The Logistics Specialist II will be responsible for the procurement of goods for the customers of Chemistry Stores as well as the maintenance of inventory accuracy and logistical processes. This position will research and negotiate with a wide array of suppliers to ensure the best possible pricing for the store and its customers.

Additionally, the incumbent will track and monitor the receipt of these orders by utilizing purchase order management skills to proactively resolve issues caused by supply chain disruptions from the supplier and communicating that information to the customer.

This position also assists in managing inventory by ensuring that all products are received and charged properly. Inventory control activities also include leading the cycle count process, utilizing internal reports to investigate inventory discrepancies, and managing processes for eliminating dead stock and expired materials. Addressing inventory issues related to supply chain is key in this role in order to make suggestions for improvement and possible product alternatives.

This position will maintain and implement improvements in logistical processes including, but not limited to, main stock and backstock location management, delivery and sales floor operations, and the tracking of outstanding orders and deliveries.

Chemistry Stores, a segment of Logistics and Support Services, is the go-to, on-campus retail location for the Iowa State scientific research community. With over 2,000 different stock items available for immediate purchase, Chemistry Stores is well stocked to serve the needs of campus research. We strive to get our researchers the best prices possible for any products they need. Whether it is a stock item or a special order, we negotiate with over 200 suppliers to get the best prices possible.

Our inventory includes liquid nitrogen, dry ice, chemicals, solvents, enzymes, media, glassware, lab supplies and equipment, compressed gas cylinders, and convenience items. We offer special services including lab coat cleaning and pipette calibration services.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
