JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Office of Physical Plant, Maintenance and Operations at Penn State Harrisburg invites applications for part-time groundskeepers. Duties include mowing, weeding, mulching, planting, watering, pruning, and other related landscape functions.

Job Duties

• Mow and trim lawns, including athletic areas. Identify and report common lawn disease, weeds, and insects to supervisor.
• Plant, transplant, prune, weed, feed, cultivate, and remove trees, flowers, and shrubs.
• Operate mowers, spreaders, light construction/landscape equipment.
• Set up safety equipment and barriers around work zone.
• Perform vehicle and equipment checks, report issues or concerns to supervisor.
• Remove brush, leaves, grass clippings, paper, spoil, and rubbish from walks, roads, curbs, parking lots, lawns, and other University property.
• Identify common flowers, trees, and shrub insect pests and disease to supervisor.
• Report unusual job conditions to supervisor.
• Other Duties as Assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Ability to work in an outdoor environment in adverse weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.
