As a Cassandra DBA at Parser, you'll lead the charge in maintaining highly available/high-performance Cassandra Clusters (On-Prem and Cloud) with very high throughput for read and write, applying configurations, storage optimization, migrating on-premise services to the cloud, and ensuring the stability and performance of our applications.

Collaborating closely with our development teams, you'll integrate Cassandra's best practices, driving efficiency and innovation across the organisation.

What You'll Do:

As a Cassandra DBA at Parser, you'll lead the charge in maintaining highly available/high-performance Cassandra Clusters (On-Prem and Cloud) with very high throughput for read and write, applying configurations, storage optimization, migrating on-premise services to the cloud, and ensuring the stability and performance of our applications. Collaborating closely with our development teams, you'll integrate Cassandra's best practices, driving efficiency and innovation across the organisation.

 

Main responsibilities:

 

• Knowledge of Cassandra Query Language (CQL): CQL is the SQL-like query language used in Cassandra.
• Understanding of Gossip Protocol for communication and coordination between nodes.
• Upgrade to the latest LTS version of the Cassandra DataStax Enterprise
• Apply configuration to cap CPU core usage per node
• Upgrade the visual management tool (DataStax provided) to its new replacement
• Tune compaction strategies
• Re-balance storage utilisation across nodes
• Test and update team process documents for recovery scenarios like a lost node
• Update and improve bespoke cluster management scripts written in Python and the shell script

• Good written and verbal English communication skills.
