The Community Youth Center of San Francisco (CYC) provides education, leadership development, behavioral health, intervention, street outreach, and workforce development services to San Francisco youth and their families. CYC envisions empowering young people to reach their highest potential as individuals and to develop a positive self/cultural identity. Our mission is to empower and strengthen a diverse population of high-need youth and their families by providing comprehensive youth development through education, employment training, advocacy, and other supportive services.
Position: Program Coordinator - (CYC Leadership Program, College & Career)
Salary: $28.00-$31.00 per hour plus benefits
Reports to: Senior Program Coordinator
Status: Full Time; Non-Exempt
The Program Coordinator of Mentorship, College & Career Access will lead efforts to integrate academic support, skills-based learning, service opportunities, and advocacy to improve academic achievement and promote community leadership among San Francisco’s immigrant, low-income, underserved, Asian youth. This program provides high-quality, skill-building activities for high school sophomores and juniors, with a focus on increasing high school graduation rates and preparing students for college and the workforce. A key highlight of the program is its mentorship component, where each youth participant is paired with an adult mentor for monthly 1:1 guidance and support. The Program Coordinator will also be responsible for training participants in leadership, facilitation, policy research, event planning, and community organizing to foster their growth as advocates and leaders in their communities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate mentorship opportunities to guide youth in their college and career journey, connecting them with mentors who can provide 1:1 guidance and regular check-ins.
- Design and implement hands-on workshops that focus on essential life skills such as resilience, growth mindset, and peer leadership, while also exploring public policy, legislative processes, and the college application process.
- Develop a leadership curriculum that fosters youth voice and community engagement, empowering youth to be agents of social change. Incorporate activities that promote civic engagement and advocacy for positive social change.
- Facilitate Youth-Led Projects and guide youth through the planning, design, critical analysis, and reflection stages of projects that uplift their communities. Support service learning projects, youth summits, and the development of action plans and resolution proposals.
- Attend and coordinate relevant conferences and events alongside youth participants, ensuring their involvement in networking and learning opportunities.
- Build and maintain relationships with community organizations and adult mentors. Support mentors by equipping them to guide youth effectively through personalized mentorship sessions.
- Maintain accurate program records, prepare reports, and ensure documentation meets the necessary standards for tracking progress and outcomes.
- Perform other tasks as directed by management to ensure the smooth functioning and growth of the program.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in related fields
- Experience working with queer / questioning / gender non-conforming youth
- Ability to work in partnership with young people and to support their leadership
- Commitment to youth and leadership development practices and to encourage youth to develop their leadership potential
- Understanding the impacts of trauma, violence, and healing methods on individuals and communities
- Excellent organizational and presentation skills
