Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

$146,400.00 - $241,600.00

What Is the Opportunity?

Commercial Accounts offers a wide array of guaranteed-cost products to mid-size businesses. Total account solutions include General Liability, Property, Automobile, Workers' Compensation, and Umbrella.

As an Underwriting Officer, Commercial Accounts, you are an underwriting subject matter expert and integral member of a field leadership team.

By leveraging your expertise to educate underwriters, lead Collaborative Underwriting Review Evaluations (CUREs), and drive the development and successful execution of underwriting strategies, you will influence the overall profitability, growth, and retention of business for an assigned group.

What Will You Do?

  • As an underwriting subject matter expert, assess, design, implement, and/or lead underwriting strategies and practices in support of profit and growth objectives for assigned group.
  • Oversee and influence underwriting execution through individual risk and/or portfolio CUREs as well as through the evaluation of underwriter proficiency and underwriting quality.
  • Drive the development of key underwriting capabilities and best practices through coaching and trainings while educating underwriters on strategy and guidelines to enhance efficiency and effectiveness for assigned group.
  • Monitor trends, emerging issues, and underwriting results for assigned book of business and partner with underwriting leadership to take action, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Eight or more years of commercial underwriting experience with experience in commercial accounts.
