SUMMARY:  Under the direction of City Traffic and Operations engineers and/or staff, conducts field studies, completes data collection and research, and performs analysis and evaluation to determine traffic volume, turning movements, speed, travel times, effectiveness of signal and other factors influencing traffic conditions. This includes data review and summarization, technical support and other activities related to the work in the Traffic Operations Department.  
Work hours are flexible based on school schedule, with typical work hours being 10-15 hours per week during the semester, and full-time during the summer. Maximum of 1560 hours annually   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.
-Completes data collection including intersection turning movement counts, daily traffic volumes, video data etc. to evaluate the operation and effectiveness of the transportation system for all modes of travel. 
-Reviews and compiles collected data as needed for various studies.  For example, this includes review, compilation and summarization of video data for pedestrian studies. 
-Evaluates intersection sight distance, sight triangles for tree planting, fence installations, signs and landscaping.
-Participates as a team member on various traffic-related projects and assists with special projects as assigned.  
-May provide support efforts for signing, pavement markings and traffic control.
-May create maps in GIS as needed.
-Enters crash data into the database
-May compile crash reports
-May assist with temporary traffic control permits and inspections
-Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
