EH&S Sr. Manager

We are looking for an experienced Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability Sr. Manager to drive outstanding performance in a diverse manufacturing environment! This role is responsible for managing EHS industrial safety & health programs to ensure safe operations and to help drive a proactive safety culture.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and leading key health & safety programs and collaborating with business partners to advance the site’s safety culture and performance

  • Must have a strong background in all general industry health & safety subject areas

  • Able to support business partners with input from other EHSS professionals within the Amgen EHSS community

  • Develop, implement and manage assigned safety & health programs and act as the site subject matter expert for assigned programs

  • Ensure regulatory compliance for all assigned programs and liaise with regulatory authorities as appropriate

  • Implement robust compliance readiness and internal auditing program for each program

  • Provide regular updates to Global Program owners and EHSS Site Lead on the status of each program

  • Execute safety culture program to integrate health & safety as part of day-to-day business operations.

  • Manage incident investigations and root cause analysis to identify and address the underlying causes of incidents and reduce injuries

  • Monitor safety & health performance and establish action plans to ensure continuous improvement in areas of responsibility

  • Establish and execute risk assessment plans to proactively address risks and ensure that control systems are implemented and maintained

  • Ability to partner with and effectively influence staff and management

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of EHS principles and standard methodologies, regulatory standards, and requirements in context of business activities.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability experience OR

  • Associate degree and 10 years of Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability experience OR

  • Bachelor’s degree or and 6 years of Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability experience OR

  • Master’s degree and 4 years of Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability experience OR

  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a GMP manufacturing environment

  • Experience managing industrial safety programs during new pharmaceutical facility start-up

  • Experience performing ergonomic risk assessments

  • Experience managing emergency action plans and emergency response activities
