What are we looking for?

Medical Director - Psychiatry

Location: Remote (Anywhere in the US)

ICON plc is seeking a dedicated Medical Director specializing in Psychiatry to join our team. This is a remote position with occasional travel, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in the US.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Culture: Exemplify and uphold ICON's core values, focusing on People, Clients, and Performance. Foster a culture of process improvement, adding value to our business and meeting client needs.
  • Medical Monitoring: Serve as the Regional Medical Monitor and, if required, as the Global Lead Medical Monitor on assigned projects. Provide medical oversight for clinical studies, ensuring quality and compliance.
  • Consultation & Training: Provide medical oversight and consultation for protocol-related medical and safety issues. Deliver training on therapeutic indications, protocols, and safety for ICON staff and project teams.
  • Documentation & Review: Review and approve protocols, case report forms, informed consent forms, and final study reports. Ensure high-quality medical deliverables in accordance with project plans and ICON standards.
  • Project Management: Oversee medical management of assigned projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, quality standards, and contractual requirements. Provide financial oversight, meeting revenue and margin targets.
  • Client Interaction: Represent ICON Medical Affairs in internal and external meetings, liaising with sponsors on medical issues and providing consultation. Participate in business development activities, including presentations, bid defenses, and cost estimations.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and oversee lower-level Medical Affairs staff, fostering professional growth and development.

Qualifications:

  • Education: MD or equivalent degree with board certification in Psychiatry required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Clinical Research within pharmaceutical, biotech, or other CRO industries.
  • Strong customer engagement skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10%, both domestically and internationally.
