About the role

Description

The Department of Health Sciences at Cedar Crest College seeks a full-time faculty member in Exercise Science. The successful candidate will teach in our undergraduate program, the master’s Integrative Exercise Science program, as well as in courses, such as Human Anatomy and Physiology, serving the range of the college’s programs. The position begins January 2025 and is a renewable (non-tenure track) position. The Health Sciences Department is fully committed to assembling a diverse faculty team with a global perspective, focused on creating an inclusive and transformative learning environment to prepare students for meaningful careers in healthcare professions.  

Candidates should have experience teaching, or the willingness to learn to teach, courses in anatomy & physiology, kinesiology, exercise physiology, and other exercise-science related courses. In addition, experience in clinical exercise physiology is preferred to support the graduate program. Experience with online learning, or the interest to develop this expertise, is required as the courses are taught utilizing in-person, online, and hybrid modalities. Experience in research and supervising student internship activities is also preferred. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues, support an inter-professional, transformative learning environment, advise students, and participate in service activities to support the College, community, and profession. Qualified candidates will engage in scholarly activities in keeping with the Boyer Model of Scholarship. 

Primary responsibilities of the position include: 

  • Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses (in-person, online, and hybrid modalities). 
  • Maintaining an active, collaborative research agenda. 
  • Engaging in departmental, College, and professional service.

Qualifications

We seek to recruit a candidate with the following minimum educational qualifications: 

  • PhD in exercise physiology or a related doctoral degree. 
  • Experience in an academic setting and knowledge of exercise science curriculum.  
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leaderships skills, in addition to organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to foster collaborations with stakeholders and strengthen relationships with community partners.
