Purpose

To assist health care professionals with the delivery of patient care services and to perform clinical skills as ordered by medical provider. To process point of care clinical specimens and perform technical analyses to aid health care providers in patient diagnosis and treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Receives patient specimens and processes them for Point of Care testing.

  • Documents on patient test results.

  • - Assists with the evaluation and care of patients to be seen by UHS providers.

  • Accepts and satisfactorily completes other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Nursing and Assistant Nurse Manager or delegate.

  • Performs department specific procedures and treatments per UHS Policies and Procedures.

  • Actively participates in maintaining a safe and clean working environment.

  • Exhibits customer service-oriented and professional behavior in all aspects of work.

  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Certified as Medical Assistant. High school graduation or GED. Proficient with standard computer data entry. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a professional demeanor. Accuracy in grammar and punctuation. Outstanding organizational skills. Attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to learn tasks quickly with minimal training and supervision. Ability to maintain confidentiality of protected health information. Regular and punctual attendance. Exhibits customer service-oriented behavior and excellent public relations skills in all aspects of work.

Preferred Qualifications

More than one year certified as Medical Assistant. Laboratory point of care testing experience. Experience working in the front office of a healthcare/medical clinic. Experience using Electronic Health Records, Microsoft Word, Excel software in Windows environment.

Hourly Rate

$23.06

Working Conditions

  • Business casual attire.

  • Shirts/pants or scrubs, closed-toe shoes.

  • Standard office environment.

  • Use of manual dexterity.

  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.

  • Lifting, pushing, or pulling, and standing.

Work Shift

  • May work between 16 - 40 hours per week.

  • Clinic hours: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm. Work schedule to be discussed during interview.
