Compensation includes a base salary of $97,100.00 - $161,800.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Job Description

As a Sr. Data Scientist, you will be an essential member of our dynamic and innovative Data Science team, contributing to the development and implementation of advanced analytical solutions. Reporting to the Lead Data Scientist, you will play a crucial role in our analytics capabilities, spearheading the development and implementation of cutting-edge machine learning and artificial intelligence frameworks that empower our customers to unlock actionable insights from complex data. Your expertise will guide the strategic integration of advanced analytics into our solutions, ensuring that our deliverables are not only predictive and prescriptive but also pragmatic and tailored to real-world application. In this role, you will harness the transformative power of data science to drive innovation, and foster data-driven decision-making. This role will fall under the Intelligent Automation and Data Analytics department

Responsibilities:

  • Perform data mining and analysis to uncover trends and correlations that support operational and strategic decisions for customers and stakeholders

  • Collaborate with customers and colleagues across analytics and engineering to extract meaning and interpretation from data sets within an assigned area of responsibility

  • Develop and leverage expertise across Cox data sources, applications and operational functions to connect business processes to data-driven insights

  • Identify and apply 3rd party/external data sources to analytical projects

  • Engage with key stakeholders to translate business requirements into data science products and solutions

  • Develop clear and easily understood data visualizations to facilitate communication and understanding for customers and stakeholders

  • Share analysis and project updates with senior team members and management

  • Manage end-to-end data science projects, including project planning, data collection, model development, and deployment

  • Bring innovative ideas and best practices to enhance the overall capabilities of the data science team

  • Create data science assets and automations using a combination of tools and languages including SQL, Python, R, Alteryx, Tableau, Microsoft Azure (Fabric, ML Studio, ADF, Synapse, PowerBI, etc…)

  • Stay updated with the latest technologies and methodologies in data science

Qualifications and Experience:

Minimum

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 4 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 2 years’ experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 16 years’ experience in a related field

  • Requires strong knowledge of SQL, Tableau, PowerBI, cloud analytics environments (e.g. Azure, AWS)

  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, interpersonal, leadership, presentation, and collaboration skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization

Preferred

  • Masters degree with focus on analytics, statistics, applied mathematics, economics, or quantitative sciences

  • Experience in data analysis, statistical modeling, and machine learning or AI

  • Experience building, deploying, or managing solutions that leverage LLMs is a plus

  • Experience working in agile delivery methodology preferred

  • Effective communication skills with the ability to convey complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Ability and capacity for self-direction as well as the ability to work within various project teams including agile methodologies and waterfall

  • Ability to adapt to changing assignments, multiple priorities, and work effectively within project teams

  • Experience utilizing a variety of data/analytic software/languages/tools; e.g. Spark (ML, Mllib, Spark SQL), R (dplyr, caret, ggplot2), Python (pandas, numpy, scipy, scikit-learn), Scala, Java, C++, Hive, SQL, Tableau, Microsoft Fabric, ML Studio, PowerBI, Alteryx, etc
