Overview of Position:

Organizes and directs the patient care in the practice, manages staff and assignments to ensure effective nursing services are provided and quality standards are met. Develops and maintains an environment that supports the professional nurse and staff. Serves as a resource for staff and promotes the best interests of the nursing staff and patients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES


1.    Works primarily supervising direct patient care to ensure nursing care is provided in a timely and organized manner. 
2.    Provides/facilitates staff training on new procedures and technology.
3.    Identifies and removes barriers that hinder the provision of patient care.
4.    Serves as mentor, guides and leads the frontline staff.
5.    Responsible for nursing practice and quality of care.
6.    Reviews patient and staff data to measure the effectiveness of patient care.
7.    Monitors daily patient care and intervenes immediately on identified issues/concerns the impact patient care.
8.    Develops/implements a structured orientation program for all new staff, and ensures all staff are properly trained.
9.    Identifies educational opportunities for individual staff as well as at the unit level.
10.    Identifies and sets expectations for unit staff.
11.    Obtains regular feedback from physicians on patient care and ensures implementation of identified areas for improvement.
12.    Ensures patient care initiatives are implemented and hardwired with ongoing sustained compliance.
13.    Completes annual evaluations of nursing staff performance and provides consistent and timely feedback.
14.    Maintains responsibility for workflow, performance, staff development, and overall patient care on the nursing unit.
15.    Maintains current knowledge of nursing care practices and standards.

QUALIFICATIONS


1.    BSN and current Ohio RN License.
2.    Three (3) years clinical experience in assigned or related field.   
3.    Current CPR certification.
4.    Ability to read, write and explain or describe moderately complex information to other hospital staff.
5.    Ability to collect data, interpret findings, set priorities and carry out established plan.
6.    Attention to detail with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
7.    Ability to communicate effectively in an oral and written manner, as well as the ability to observe, assess, guide, and evaluate others.
8.    Ability to read, calculate and prepare medication, as well as the ability to observe and analyze any resulting reactions.
9.    Self-motivated and able to complete assigned tasks with minimal direction.
10.    Demonstrates competence in age-specific patient care.
11.    Additional training certifications as applicable to specific patient population/unit.
