AOE Operations Intern - School Facilities Program

Overview
The Agency of Education (AOE) Operations team is seeking a data-driven intern to support several initiatives related to School Facilities Program Management for Vermont schools. In 2021, the Vermont legislature passed several new requirements for Vermont public schools related to school facilities. The AOE is seeking interested candidates to assist with the collection of data needed to support these new requirements, inform AOE technical guidance related to implementation of certain school facilities requirements, and to help inform strategies around educational visioning for Vermont schools and districts as they plan for current and future facilities needs. Ultimately, successful candidates can expect exposure to multiple areas of public school and district facilities needs and related budgetary processes.
Selected candidates can anticipate engaging in, and sometimes leading, activities related to:
- Data collection and analysis percentage of eligible voters participating in school budget votes and school bond measure votes and Bond Measure pass/fail rates;
- Collection of information related to school and district staff responsible for facilities management oversight, and their qualifications;
- Research, collection, and analysis of Educational Specifications around minimum and maximum gross square footage allowances for programs, services and headcount, by grade level
Candidates interested in applying should submit a cover letter in addition to their application and should be able to demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Suite (including Excel, Word, PowerPoint), must be comfortable engaging with a diverse group of people, and must be able to demonstrate the ability to effectively collect and summarize data to aid in strategic decision making.
It is anticipated that these positions will work up to 40 hours per week. internship

This position, AOE Operations Intern (Job Requisition #50221), is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.
