 Salary based on experience and education level per CBOE salary schedule plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.
 Job Description: 
 The Behavior Intervention Teacher will provide high quality instruction, remediation, and social and emotional support students as an alternative to out of school suspension. They will utilize the PBIS Framework to implement structures and supports to improve academic outcomes. In addition, the teacher will provide support
to students ensuring they are meeting the WV College and Career Readiness Standards and Student Success Standards.   Qualifications:   

 

1. Must hold a valid WV Professional Teaching Certificate in Elementary
2. Must have experience with elementary school age students
3. Must have experience with and/or knowledge of at-risk students and student behaviors
4. Must have knowledge of Positive Behavior Intervention
5. Preference for individual with knowledge and experience with the students at the respective school
6. Preference for individual with experience in remedial education 

 
 
 
Responsibilities:  
 

1. Maintain student confidentiality
2. Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
3. Provide appropriate remedial and/or instruction in all areas
4. Facilitate the completion of required assignments
5. Must attend PBIS trainings and provide school level professional development
6. Participate in the development of the Individualized Education Program (IEP)
7. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all behavior, social skills, and learning activities to students, daily
8. Participate with IEP and SAT teams in the development and implementation of behavior plans
9. Identify and utilize a variety of instructional resources and methods to support the behavior and learning needs of students at varying levels of progress
10. Trained and able to assist with Crisis Prevention and Intervention
11. Monitor and encourage individual student progress
12. Work closely with School-Based Mental Health Provider to ensure the student is getting the services needed, and to assist by providing reinforcement in the classroom
13. Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development
14. Update records accurately and completely as required by laws and district policies
15. Complete and submit all reports in a timely manner as required by law, the West Virginia Department of Education and/or the county Board of Education
16. Manage student behavior and maintain discipline by establishing classroom rules and procedures in a positive manor
17. Stay current with most recent developments in appropriately working with at-risk students.
18. Ability to work collaboratively with the IEP and SAT members, i.e. meetings, and home visits
19. In the event of a directive issued by the school administration, instruction may be modified.  Modifications of instruction may include, but not limited to:
    1. Conducting instruction virtually
    2. Conducting instruction in-person
    3. Able to use virtual, online platforms
    4. Support instructions for students virtually, remotely, or in-person
    5. Use documentation log for communication and evidence of intervention and instruction.
