About the role
Position Highlights:
- Elmhurst Hospital
- Full-time 1.0 FTE
- Hours: 2pm-10:30pm Monday-Friday, Includes weekend and holiday rotations
A Brief Overview: Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, performs various clinical laboratory tests in one or more sections of the Laboratory in order to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease.
What you will do:
- Performs patient tests, manually and through the use of automated clinical laboratory equipment, reagents and/or test methodologies.
- Maintains competencies in accordance with policy/procedure of the hospital and department
- Performs quality control checks per established protocols. Records these QC checks appropriately and takes corrective action when checks are not within established guidelines. Documents corrective action taken.
- Reviews test results for accuracy and notifies appropriate clinical personnel of all critical results. Documents this notification per established protocols.
- Performs instrument checks, maintenance and troubleshooting per department protocol
What you will need:
- Associate’s Degree or higher in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent
- Registration with the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP), National Credentialing Agency (NCA) or equivalent, preferred
