Position Details:

The Vice President of Healthcare Sales develops a sales strategy that creates growth and performance, maximizes profitability, and aligns with the business objectives of Grainger.

You will implement strategy through a coast-to-coast network of field-based management and direct selling teams. Accountable for building and developing teams. Ensure product sales and customer service levels maximize customer satisfaction with Grainger, while meeting budgetary constraints and minimizing costs. You will lead a sales team responsible for all of Grainger's healthcare customers (acute and non-acute) across the United States, with approximately $700 million in annual revenue and a team of three Regional Sales Vice Presidents, one Sales Director, and a Sr. Manager of Operations.

You will report to the Group Vice President, Government and HealthCare Sales. This is a hybrid position based in our Lake Forest Office.

 

You Will:

  • Develop a sales strategy that drives performance to exceed sales targets, maximizes profitability, and aligns with our goals.  Execute strategy through a network of field-based management and direct selling teams.   
  • Direct the development of all short-term and long-term sales programs to engage all sales channels, utilize available resources and technology to guide profitable sales growth, while minimizing costs.  Balance short-term results with long-term strategy.  
  • Develop new and strengthen existing relationships with executive level customer contacts; sell and promote Grainger’s value, programs and products to meet or exceed sales goals. 
  • Determine field sales needs and direct the development of action plans to meet those needs.  Partner with other teams to address field sales concerns and support strategic initiatives.  Influence the strategic direction of the company through communication and applying feedback from customers and field personnel. 
  • Support contract negotiations for critical accounts. Ensure that financially sound and supported contracts are aligned with financial objectives while delivering value and support to meet customer expectations.
  • Identify talent requirements to meet short- and long-term objectives. Accountable for all aspects of talent strategy including attracting, retaining, and developing talent, to support team effectiveness.      
  • Create an inclusive environment where diverse team members are committed to our success and support a culture where all team members can learn, grow and thrive.   Foster an effective sales leadership team. 
  • Partner with leaders in multiple areas such as Suppler Management, Contact Management, Legal and field leadership to ensure our needs are addressed and resolved, appropriate solutions are provided, and our customers’ experiences are exceptional.

 

You Have:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in business, supply chain logistics, marketing and sales, technology related field or have comparable business-related experience.   
  • 10+ years sales and/or marketing experience with 3+ years at a senior leadership level. 
  • Understanding of ecommerce and its influence within the MRO market.  
  • Experience managing a large and diverse selling organization. 
  • Experience coaching and developing for employee potential.  
  • Highly skilled and experienced at negotiating with Fortune 500 businesses and interacting with C-level executives.  
  • P&L experience with financial background and performance accountability.  
  • Leadership style that promotes focused ability in making decisions.
