Director, Cell Line Development Pre-Pivotal Biologics Development – Foster City, CA

Gilead has an opportunity for an industry experienced Cell Line development Scientist with Ph.D. and 8+ years, at our Foster City campus facility. We are seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented individual to drive CLD execution for our rapidly growing biologics pipeline. The successful candidate will also contribute to the overall strategy of new technology development projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead end-to-end Cell Line Development for pipeline projects, including activities from vector design and construction to clonal cell lines appropriate for Master Cell Bank generation.
• Design, implement and apply high-throughput automation technologies for mammalian cell line generation and process optimization
• Drive process improvements for increased speed and efficiency to generate highly productive, high quality, robust cell lines that meet all regulatory requirements with high quality documentation.
• Support cell banking, cell bank characterization and tech transfer operations.
• Coordinate with both Research and CMC colleagues for efficient knowledge transfer
• Participate in Due Diligence and Manufacturability assessments
• Author technical reports, Regulatory filing support, present in group meetings, and work cross-functionally to achieve common goals.
• Develop and motivate team of direct and indirect reports.

Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

• Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or related fields with 8+ years experience OR M.S. with 10+ years experience OR B.S. with 12+ years industrial experience in biologics development with people leader
