The Opportunity
This position works out of our Lake Forest, IL location in the Core Diagnostics Division. Our diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories, and clinics around the globe. The crucial information derived from our tests, instruments and informatics systems are often the first step in patient care decision making for hundreds of health conditions from heart attacks to blood disorders to infectious diseases and cancers. Core Diagnostics products and associated manufacturing processes are developed and commercialized under a comprehensive quality system which complies to regulatory authority requirements for country’s Abbott supplies product to.
The Staff Engineer is a career established and productive leader accountable for on-time and within budget completion of project/program milestones for new and existing products, processes, prototypes, mold tooling and associated equipment. The desired candidate must have a proactive mindset and exceptional project & task completion skills. Additional desired attributes include a thirst to be an everyday learner, strong emotional intelligence, and an ability to apply critical thinking to navigate through issues and risks. The candidate should have an ability to create and maintain peer and leadership relationships by treating people with respect and dignity and accepts leadership decisions as final. The candidate must work independently and cross-functionally with minimal supervision on larger, moderately complex projects/assignments and executes compliantly, efficiently, on-time, and within budget to meet business objectives. What You’ll Work On
- Develop, lead & manage multiple Division Engineering product, capital asset, and process projects.
- Apply scientific knowledge and experience to create an appropriately scoped project plan that meets business and compliance requirements.
- Estimates and conveys resource and effort requirements by using standard estimating techniques and tools, seeking input from appropriate staff, and understanding of quality system requirements.
- Must be capable of drafting technical assessments for proposed design output changes.
