Job Description
Job Summary
Performs general maintenance and preventative / predictive maintenance on a variety of blowmold and injection, auxiliary and plant support equipment. Individual is required to apply knowledge either gained on-the-job or previous experience of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic theory and procedure to trouble shoot, perform preventative maintenance and complete necessary repairs. The overall goal is to assist in minimizing downtime due to breakdown repairs and PM’s as well as optimize the quality of products manufactured to the highest degree.

Specific Responsibilities / Essential Functions
Apply knowledge of the following in maintenance and repair of blowmold and injection, auxiliary and support equipment:
Mechanical
Electrical
Pneumatic
Hydraulic theory and procedure
Applies knowledge of machines and processes for each of the following to analyse, set-up and maintain equipment for safe and continuous operation:
Blowmold
Injection
Drying Apparatus
Mechanical Systems
Construction
Ability to apply knowledge of each technical requirement:Electrical Skills
Ability to read electrical schematics and identify symbols and control circuits with a reasonable degree of competency. Includes ability to understand and trouble-shoot PLC program and logic
Ability to competently and with a reasonable degree of accuracy trouble-shoot electrical circuits
Must be capable of working on the installation of PLC’s, change motors, install relays and starters, and install control circuits
Hydraulic Skills
Ability to read hydraulic schematics and identify symbols and control circuits with a reasonable degree of competency
Ability to competently and with a reasonable degree of accuracy troubleshoot a hydraulic circuit
Must be capable of working on equipment to repair, change or upgrade the status of equipment
Mechanical Skills
Must be capable of performing maintenance on all types of equipment represented in the plant with a reasonable degree of skill and competency
Must have a reasonable degree of skill with refrigeration, drying, conveying, fluid pumps, blowing and vacuum pumps, pneumatic circuits and welding / fabrication
Follows all established safety rules and guidelines as outlined in the Amcor “No Injuries Safety Contract” and as trained. Understands and communicates all hazards and safety issues to co-workers and Supervisors. Properly uses all required personal protective equipment.
Performs other related duties as directed by the Maintenance Manager to insure the smooth and orderly operation of finished product movement in the area assigned.
Authorization
Those employees with authorized training, have the ability to shut down / stop equipment if continued operation is a threat to any employee’s health and safety
Recommend Staff stop production for unacceptable quality
Recommend Staff quarantine out-of-specification products, materials or supplies
Contact any member of Management without fear of reprisal concerning questions, suggestions, or complaints regarding quality, working conditions or job environment
Job Specifications and Requirements
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or graduate of vo-tech program preferred
Completed all requirements of Mold Technician or prove previous experience as a Maintenance Mechanic in a Manufacturing environment
Physical Requirements: This is a heavy physical demand job
Lift / push / pull up to 100 pounds 50 feet using a hydraulic hand jack (this is the equivalent of a static push / pull of approximately 70 pounds).
Maximum frequent lifting weight of 75 pounds from ground to 6 feet overhead.
Occasional frequency of lifting up to 100 pounds from ground to 6 feet overhead.
Maximum frequent carrying weight of 60 pounds for 10 feet.
Employees are required to stand / walk for up to 11 hours per shift on a concrete floor.
Employees must be able to work 12-hour shifts day or nights, including weekends and holidays.
Employees are required to bend; turn / twist; kneel; squat; crawl; climb; reach out and up; turn wrist; grasp; pinch; and have finger manipulations.
Required Safety Equipment:
Employees are required to continuously wear hearing and eye protection, as well as protective clothing including steel toe shoes.
Employees must wear hard hats during operation of cranes or man-lifts.
