The Research Pharmacy in Rochester, MN currently has an opening for a 0.5 FTE research pharmacist. The position will be day shifts with variable start times between 06:00 and 08:30. Approximately 1 out of every 10 weeks will be on-call to respond to issues that may arise during hours the research pharmacy is closed.
Responsible for preparing, organizing and implementing research support services and materials provided through Hospital Pharmacy Services to clinical investigators at the Mayo Clinic. Serves as a resource to investigators and study coordinators in the development/budgeting/implementation of research protocols. Serves as a resource to the Clinical Research and Trials Unit in the implementation of research related pharmaceutical practices/services and dispensing of investigational products.
Also provides medication management services in coordination with other health care professionals to deliver safe, appropriate, and cost-effective medication therapy to patients. Responsibilities may include assessment of medication therapy regimens, medication therapy management, medication order verification/entry, medication distribution, medication therapy monitoring, and consultation, documentation of medication therapy plans, and medication use education and pharmaceutical care services. Participates in collaborative practice and/or protocol-driven practice as appropriate. Additionally, pharmacists are active members in quality improvement, research activities, and education as described in the job specific competencies.
- Graduate of an ACPE-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
- Other advanced degrees (e.g., Master’s, Ph.D.) and applicable Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) or other certification applicable to the position as determined by the supervisor preferred.
- Completion of pharmacy residency and specialization (e.g., PGY-2 and respective BPS certification), if applicable, preferred.
- Experience in investigational drug service.
- Evidence of ongoing scholarly pursuits including research/quality improvement, publications, or scientific presentations preferred. Relevant applicable pharmacy experience working in a progressive and collaborative practice environment preferred. Experience and/or interest in teaching and/or precepting preferred.
- Commitment to excellence, accuracy, attention to detail and teamwork required. Ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively with others, organizes time well, practice with an agile mindset, solve problems, and work independently with minimal supervision required.
License or Certification
- Current pharmacist license by the Board of Pharmacy in the state(s) of the job's practice site, or eligible to obtain within a time frame compliant with the site’s applicable employee licensure policy. May not independently fulfill responsibilities reserved only to a pharmacist until license is obtained.
