Job Summary:

Caterpillar Switchgear, part of the Electric Power Division, has an opening for a Software Human-Machine Interface (HMI) Engineer located in Alpharetta, Georgia. In this role, you will design, modify, develop, write and implement software-programming for generator control switchgear HMI applications.

 What you will do:

• Build and modify HMI screens using FactoryTalk, Vijeo, or RSView following ISA-101 principles.

• Implement basic VBScript/JavaScript for screen logic and tag bindings.

• Participate in testing and certification of HMI software.

• Assist Product Support with field troubleshooting and remote PC configuration.

• Follow documented procedures and escalate complex issues.

• Maintain awareness of industry trends in HMI and network infrastructure.

Application Design, Architecture: Basic understanding and knowledge of basic activities and deliverables of application design; ability to utilize application design methodologies, tools and techniques to convert business requirements and logical models into a technical application design.

Data Warehousing: Working knowledge of how to collect data from different information sources and distribute them to users; ability to simplify information systems and make sound business decisions.

Systems Software Infrastructure: Working knowledge of computer architecture and system software interaction; ability to design and build a fundamental architecture of operating systems, database management systems, communications protocols, compilers and other development tools.

• Experience with Factory Talk / Vijeo / RSView HMI software

Technical Troubleshooting: Working knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application or operation.

• Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the HMI field

  Top Candidates Will Also Have:

• Bachelor’s of science in Computer Science, Graphic Design, or UX/UI Design
