And what will you do?
Summary:
Provides day-to-day leadership of assigned areas. Supervises drivers, leading and coaching them to maintain safety, quality, efficiency, and on time performance to schedule. Works with the site/corporate management team to optimize fleet (driver & equipment) utilization, execute daily delivery plans, manage KPI’s, and lead focus on quality customer service. Supports initiatives to improve the customers’ business and improve the efficiency of freight costs. Continuously improves all aspects of the assigned area. This role is responsible for maintaining fleet equipment and managing fleet safety.
Core Functions:
- Follows and enforces all safety procedures and uses all applicable personal protective gear. Ensures safety goals are achieved and safety performance continually improves. Observes and documents near miss/accident reports.
- Promotes and develops the company culture and engagement of drivers through regular contact with drivers.
- Develops team through constant On the Job Training and coaching.
- Promotes regular and productive communication with drivers.
- Leads continuous improvement activities to improve performance in safety, RMA, on time performance, and site/company key performance indicators (KPIs) of the assigned area.
- Utilizes visual methods in the daily operations within the assigned area, including but not limited to safety, RMA, on time performance to schedule, and site KPIs.
- Conducts interviews for driver positions within the site.
- Leads driver onboarding and training activities at the site. Creates and executes individual training plans.
- Manages vacation schedule and reviews/approves weekly payroll.
- Maintains flexibility of work schedule as you will/could receive calls after hours.
- Monitors driver performance and implements individual goals to improve overall team performance.
- Understands and communicates location financials and team’s impact on the financials.
- Performs problem solving activities for delivery and production. Understands a structured process to solve problems with root cause analysis and validated corrective actions. Ability to conduct these activities and explain to his/her EO’s the corrective actions and the expectations of them.
- Understands cost control and what impacts the assigned area. This includes knowing cost impact of CTTI, routing, and driver utilization. This impact should be known and actively managed through the monitoring of KPI’s.
- Knowledgeable of company Safety/DOT/Regulation controls and ensuring the team is educated in these areas. Constantly reinforces this knowledge and prioritizes safety concerns.
- Assists with maintaining driver qualification records.
- Ensures RMA corrective actions are executed and required feedback is delivered to internal/external customers.
- Inspects condition of equipment. Is responsible for scheduling repairs with site maintenance or outside vendors.
- Responsible for on time completion of PM’s on all assigned equipment
- Trains and drives operational principles within the assigned area. These principles center around Continuous Improvement and tools such as 5-S, waste elimination, and RMA reduction.
- Plans and balances driver utilization based on workload and schedules.
- Actively participates in daily planning meeting and drives actions to ensure on time delivery.
