Position Description:
The Associate Director of the Center for Civic Engagement supports the Center for Civic Engagement in developing and implementing programs designed to build student leadership skills and a commitment to our local, national, and global communities.
Responsibilities:
- Develop Student Leadership Workshop Series for all student leaders including Peer Connect Mentors, Student Council, Center Interns, and Student Club Leaders.
- Design and manage the Center Internship for 15 students.
- Oversee the Peer Connect Mentor Program with over 200 student participants
- Support the Public Purpose Program by collaborating with the Director of the Public Purpose Program to plan PPP days, facilitate 9th grade PPP curriculum, and manage PPP interns.
- Lead the Community Tutoring and Enrichment Program to support public and parochial middle school students.
- Collaborate with the DEIB department to plan and deliver Sam Mihara Days of Justice and support the MLK Day of Action.
- Assist the Director of the Center for Civic Engagement with planning and leading 9th-11th Grade Retreat Program, including recruiting, training, and supervising Senior leaders.
- Oversee student club fundraisers, club reports, and event and proposal form.
- Oversee marketing materials for the Center, including the website, The Center Blog, and social media pages.
- Host visiting guests from summer enrichment programs, community partners, and service organizations.
- Serve as a grade level advisor
- Participate in the Admissions process by interviewing students.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, or professional equivalent
- Minimum three years of experience as a classroom teacher preferred
- Availability to work occasional weekends
- Demonstrates commitment to equity and inclusion, engaging students from all walks of life
- Collaborates effectively with colleagues in program design and implementation
- Takes initiative and is self-directed
- Strong organization skills, as well as strong written/oral communication skills
- Personal qualities of integrity, optimism, flexibility and humor
