General Description:

The Tool Maintenance Technician has direct involvement with daily maintenance, cleaning, and repair of Tools.  As this position will support 3 shifts of production the technician is skilled at planning ahead and anticipates needs and issues before they arise. 

The technician is completely responsible to ensure Tools are ready for production when needed and the condition, maintenance and historical information of the Tools is kept. This will be accomplished by working closely with the shift supervisors on the production schedule, ordering and expediting replacement parts with vendors, maintaining inventory of critical spare parts and diligently monitoring Tool conditions.

The technician is responsible for ensuring timely mold changes as needed and preventative maintenance tasks are completed thoroughly, accurately and on time.

The technician is responsible for assigning tasks and creating daily schedules for all Process Maintenance Technicians while auditing the work assigned.

Occasionally, this technician would assist with new Tool samples and provide full documentation on all processing parameters, as well as be able to exercise the authority to quarantine suspect product. 

Because the Tool Maintenance Technician has specialized knowledge and expertise, they must be willing to mentor and assist in training others. .

Requirements

  

Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in stopping and correcting unsafe conditions and behaviors.
  • Demonstrate daily evidence of continuous improvement efforts of 5S and autonomous maintenance.
  • Treat quality as a key pillar of our success by always Doing the right thing for our customers. 
  • Solve problems daily by working together as an engaged team member. 
  • Routine maintenance of Tools and accessories including testing, measuring disassembling, cleaning, reassembles as needed utilizing detailed engineering drawings, work instructions, sketches and verbal instructions.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments such as venires, dial indicators, micrometer together with shop mathematics and pertinent formulas.
  • Use various types of tool room equipment such as lathes, mills, grinders, drill presses, etc.
  • Maintain inventory of spare Tool parts and consumables and order replacement parts as needed.
  • Support Process Technicians and Supervisors with issues that may arise that directly impact OEE. 
  • Assist with sampling and qualify new Tools.
  • Help  in the relief of breaks as needed.
  • Maintain records and documentation.
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned.

  

Experience:

  • 5+ years working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with checking for form, fit and function.
  • Operational knowledge of tool room equipment
  • Experience with standard hand tools
  • Ability to work independently demonstrating strong technical knowledge and good communication skills
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Sound communication skills and excellent problem-solving ability
  • Possess skills required to improvise and adapt where needed.

Education:

· Associate degree or High School Diploma and relevant experience required.

Physical Requirement:

· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
