About the role

Description

Part-time position for a marching band director beginning August, 2020.  Duties include administration and instruction of the 100+ member Scot Marching Band, which includes brass, woodwind, and percussion sections, as well as bagpipes, Scottish drummers, and Highland dancers.  Responsibilities in the fall semester include administration of the marching band camp (August 11-18), twice weekly rehearsals (T/TH 5:15 – 7:15 p.m.), performances at home football games, Scot Spirit Day, and a concert performance at the end of the season. Coordination and communication with 4-5 additional instructors as well as working with the Music and Athletic departments is crucial to the success of the marching band program.

Qualifications

Degree in music and experience directing a marching band required. Candidate must demonstrate evidence of successful teaching and the ability to be a congenial colleague.

Master’s degree in music and collegiate teaching experience strongly preferred.
