Company Description
The German and Austrian markets represent key areas of commercial growth of Entain. Given the size of the market and local knowledge required, Entain needs a German language lawyer to join the team to provide dedicated local resource focusing on those markets and to the teams located in our Vienna office. The successful candidate would need to be able to identify, assess and balance legal and commercial risks, design and implement new and creative solutions for contractual arrangements, negotiate supplier agreements and manage stakeholders as well as providing on the ground support to stakeholders in the office. We are looking to onboard a talented and highly motivated mid-level lawyer to increase our capacity and support, working as main point of contact for the region, but part of a wider Commercial Legal Team.
This position will suit an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who is keen to continue their legal career in-house in a supportive and vibrant environment preferably with experience advising marketing teams.
Job Description
Principal duties include overseeing contractual matters with existing and future suppliers, participating in RFP and due diligence reviews of suppliers, providing commercial counsel on key strategic initiatives, providing day-to-day advice, resolving issues that arise in existing and new commercial relationships, providing interpretation of legislative acts, supporting commercial and product teams with business orientated legal advice, assisting on licensing matters and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and enquiries. In addition to the foregoing, the successful candidate would be expected to provide senior management in Vienna and Germany with a sounding board for day to day matters that may arise during the ordinary course of business.
The successful candidate will have a background in providing commercial advice in a fast paced sector and be able to apply sound, pragmatic judgement in a dynamic and evolving environment.
Key responsibilities will include;
- Structuring, negotiating, reviewing and drafting commercial agreements of varying degrees of complexity.
- Serving as lead counsel and directly advising business clients on strategic deals.
- Advising commercial and product teams on the launch of new products and/or services and managing all legal aspects (including identifying and mitigating potential risks).
- Advising on the commercial implications of existing contractual obligations.
- Resolving issues that arise in existing commercial relationships and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and enquiries.
- Serving as a key subject matter expert and strategic adviser to the businesses in relation to legal obligations.
- Assisting in the development and management of risk protection programmes across the company.
- Proactively monitoring and reviewing legislation in order to help ensure accurate and up-to-date inventories of all legal obligations.
- Building strong relationships with key stakeholders and becoming immersed in all aspects of the business within the DACH region.
- Bench-marking competitors, their products and customer flows in order to assist with best business practice suggestions.
Qualifications
- Are you a German or Austrian-qualified lawyer with 5-7 years PQE?
- Do you have strong free drafting and negotiating ability?
- Are you fluent in both German and English?
- A strong interest in gambling regulations and the gambling industry would be preferable, although previous industry experience not essential.
- Do you have the ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams?
- Are you enthusiastic about taking ownership of projects and become involved proactively in all legal aspects from start to finish?
- Are you keen to make a positive impact on the business and continuously looking for ways to improve existing processes or suggest new processes that will lead to greater efficiencies and productivity?
- Are you proactive with a driven attitude and comfortable liaising with and advising senior stakeholders?
- Are you able to problem solve quickly by making reasoned judgements balancing risks?
- Do you have excellent attention to detail and prioritisation skills with a proven ability to meet demanding deadlines?
- Are you comfortable working in a face paced and highly regulated environment?
- Do you have excellent written and oral communication skills?
