About the role

Use Your Power for Purpose
This position reports to the Director of the Quality Control Laboratories and is responsible for management oversight of the Quality Control Laboratory Operations within the Drug Product and Microbiology Laboratories.

   

What You Will Achieve
Set and manage objectives for multiple projects and ongoing activities within the Operating Unit, ensuring alignment with the Division's strategy.  Lead and allocate people, technology, and financial resources within the Global Business Unit, including managing resources outside direct authority.   Actively share knowledge across multiple functions and contribute to the development of knowledge management processes within the Global Business Unit.  Champion innovation by developing resources to implement new ideas and taking appropriate risks to drive progress within the Global Business Unit.  Assess talent needs, identify potential within the organization, and hold managers accountable for developing a diverse talent pipeline. 


Partner with leadership to achieve objectives and provide support to Quality Operations, Production, and Engineering to address product and process issues.  Participate in quality assessments, evaluate contract operations, and ensure timely release of drug products to assure compliance and supply performance.  Standardize Quality Control practices, transfer analytical methods for new product introductions, and manage the operating budget and capital expenditure proposals for the laboratories within their reporting responsibility.  Ensure a safe working environment, support continuous process improvement, manage and motivate staff, and deliver excellent customer service to all internal and external customers of the quality control department. 

People Leader: 
Ensure individual and team training is up to date relative to the duties being performed. Responsible for development of direct reports and others. Sets expectations for goal setting, ongoing assessments, and coaching/performance evaluations to motivate direct reports and deliver results for the department and business lines. Identify growth and development opportunities for direct reports. Respects the PGS vision, mission, values and leadership behaviors in order to realize the PGS objectives related to quality, GMP, customer satisfaction, right first time and cost.

  

Here Is What You Need (Minimum Requirements)

  • BA/BS with at least 6 years of experience or MBA/MS with at least 5 years of experience or PhD/JD with at least 1 year of experience or MD/DVM with any years of experience

  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Robust understanding of analytical chemistry, instrumentation, laboratory automation, and production processes.

  • Experience in leading people and managing a large, complex organization

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of GMP and GLP

  • Proficiency in laboratory information management systems (LIMS)

  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

Bonus Points If You Have (Preferred Requirements)

  • Master’s degree with relevant pharmaceutical experience

  • Comprehensive expertise in HPLC, GC, and various laboratory equipment

  • Familiarity with six sigma, lean labs, and standard work practices

  • Proficiency in Empower software

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills

  • Ability to foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $135,100.00 to $225,100.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 17.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
