Position Description
The primary purpose of the Utility Aide is to support the kitchen staff by performing essential cleaning, dishwashing, and food preparation assistance duties. This role ensures kitchen operations run smoothly and hygienically by maintaining cleanliness, organization, and compliance with food safety standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow Federal and State long term care regulations and Dietary Department policies & procedures.
- Perform work routines, using various dietary utensils, supplies and equipment as assigned by the Food Service Director and/or Cook.
- Provide assistance to the cook and other dietary staff in the preparation and service of meals as assigned.
- Deliver and collect food carts, trays, etc. to/ from designated areas
- Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment using commercial dishwashing equipment.
- Clean kitchen floors, walls, worktables, and storage areas according to sanitation and safety standards.
- Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing food and kitchen supplies.
- Refill soap dispensers, paper towels, and other sanitation supplies as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in the walk-in refrigerator, dry storage, and loading areas.
- Report any maintenance, safety, or pest control issues to supervisor immediately.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of food handling, preparation and service.
- Knowledge of local and state health and sanitation and safety codes is beneficial.
- Basic understanding of kitchen cookware and appliances.
- Previous cooking experience recommended.
- ServSafe certified; and ServSafe Allergens certification recommended.
