Job Summary
The Financial Analyst supports financial planning, analysis, and reporting functions within the EVPAA’s office. This role provides analytical support for strategy, budget oversight, and institutional decision-making, while contributing to key initiatives and campus-wide financial performance analysis.
Responsibilities
- Performs financial analysis on cash flow, operating results, and organizational plans to support strategic decision-making and effective resource allocation. Prepares, analyzes, and interprets financial and management reports, evaluating financial performance, resource utilization, and trends across departments and academic units. Develops and maintains reporting tools, including P&L-style reporting, and communicates insights and recommendations to leadership.
- Maintains financial models, conducts analysis, and assists in the developing tables, proposals, and presentation materials. Contributes to forecasting, scenario analysis, and long-range financial planning using internal data, industry benchmarks, and general economic trends.
- Responds to ad hoc data requests from leadership and campus partners, ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of financial data across systems and reports. Utilizes financial systems and modeling tools to support analysis, reporting, and data management, while assisting in the development and maintenance of cost accounting and reporting processes.
- Monitors and reviews financial data and processes, reconciling discrepancies, identifying trends and potential impacts, and supporting resolution of technical issues. Assists in auditing and maintaining financial and accounting systems to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with institutional policies.
- Collaborates with departments and central offices to gather data, provide insights, and support sound financial practices across the institution.
- Identifies opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies, recommending and implementing enhancements to financial systems, reporting processes, and departmental operations. Provides support for strategic initiatives, special projects, and evolving operational needs, applying analytical judgment and a continuous improvement mindset.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or a related field or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); plus two years of related experience. Also required are a thorough knowledge of established accounting principles and practices; spreadsheet and database skills; knowledge of statistics and demonstrated analytical, problem solving, human relation and effective communication skills required.
An advanced degree, such as a Master’s of Business Administration, is preferred. Certain positions may require familiarity with hospital billing systems, Medicare and insurance reimbursement regulations, etc.
