Head of Engineering, Low Latency Group

The Head of Engineering is a role within the Low Latency Group which is part of the Data & Feeds division of LSEG. This role reports to the Low Latency Group Head of Technology. The Low Latency Group has a product suite that includes historical market data and low latency direct feeds.

Job Description:

The Head of Engineering will be responsible for overseeing the engineering teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, market data solutions. This role requires a leader with significant experience in the direct feeds domain, in addition to hands-on expertise in C++ and Python, who can guide the teams in developing and optimizing our data infrastructure and products. As LSEG continues to transform our direct feeds business into a hypergrowth pillar of our overall LSEG strategy, the Head of Engineering will be responsible for sharing a clear and compelling engineering vision while leading a large, distributed global team, with work that influences a significant revenue stream and where services must be continuously stable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the engineering teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.

• Evolve the overall engineering strategy across historical data and direct feed products to recognize and implement material opportunities to grow the business.

• Ensure the scalability, reliability, and performance of our data solutions.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align engineering efforts with business goals.

• Mentor and develop engineering talent, promoting continuous learning and growth.

• Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation.

• Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from concept to development, testing, deployment and maintenance.

• Represent the engineering team in executive meetings, providing updates on progress, challenges, and opportunities.

• Participate in reorganizational activities to bring Low Latency Group in alignment with the broader LSEG org.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a low latency market data environment.

• Excellent track record of partnering with product and building businesses with a growth trajectory.

• Strong hands-on experience with C++ and Python.

• In-depth knowledge of low latency systems, network protocols, and performance optimization.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.

• Strong knowledge of financial markets and trading systems.

• Familiarity with data center technology, cloud computing and distributed systems.

• Ability to make critical decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

• Effective change agent with the ability to gain organizational buy-in and effectively accelerate and implement transformation plans.

• Strong relationship management and stakeholder management skills.

Compensation/Benefits Information (New York applicants only):

LSEG is committed to offering competitive Compensation and Benefits. The anticipated base salary for this position is $216,000 - $401,200.

Please be aware base salary ranges may vary by geographic location, city and state. In addition to our offered base salary, this role is eligible for our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP/”bonus plan”). Target AIP rates will be commensurate with role level and posted career stage. Individual salary will be reflective of job related knowledge, skills and equivalent experience.
