Overview

This position directs, executes, achieves and maintains quality and efficiency standards in purchasing, warehouse, receiving and distribution, coordinates inventory and operational needs.

 

This role will pay a salary of $57,000 to $65,000.

McCormick Place located in downtown Chicago is the largest and most flexible convention center in North America., With over 2.6 million square feet of exhibition space, the campus proudly hosts some of the world’s largest and most prestigious conventions, meetings, and trade shows, welcoming approximately 3 million visitors to Chicago every year.

Responsibilities

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Manage Union Warehouse Attendants/Drivers/Linen Room Attendants, monitoring work and ensuring the safe use of warehouse equipment at McCormick Place and WINTRUST Arena.
  • Lead team by setting productivity goals, establishing organizational systems, placing inventory orders, and creating communication systems between the Warehouse and Operations departments.
  • Assist with determining standards for quality control and inspect inventory and packaging upon arrival and prior to sending orders out.
  • Establish warehouse practices and protocols to achieve day to day efficiencies.
  • Monitor workplace performance of staff and conduct trainings to improve employee performance and productivity.
  • Understand and effectively communicate OVG Hospitality policies and procedures.
  • Communicate with all internal teams and understand the information needed to support the Restaurant, Culinary and Catering/Sales operations.
  • Facilitates the purchasing, requisition and distribution process.
  • Purchase food, beverage, and supplies based on banquet needs and scheduled openings in restaurants.
  • Delegation of tasks to warehouse lead, warehouse staff and linen room staff.
  • Oversees sanitation and safety of warehouse in addition to keeping up to date on the latest federal and state safety regulations.
  • Communicates vendor performance and service to purchasing director.
  • Makes informed and cost-effective decisions pertaining to product, receiving, storage and distribution.
  • Assists in monthly inventory.
  • Effectively communicate coaching’s/discipline when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • 5 years purchasing and supervisory experience in convention center, hotel, multi-unit restaurant operation or similar business.
  • Must have strong knowledge of food and beverages and be up to date on current trends.
  • Extensive knowledge of EATEC or similar food service program.
  • Excellent organizational skills with proven ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of PC software, including proficiency in Excel and Word and using email.
  • Proven abilities to lead and develop staff.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule.
  • Experience working with union employees and understanding Collective Bargaining Agreement preferred.
  • Ability to take tasks that are not clearly defined and appropriately define problem, propose and implement solutions.
