Job Description Summary

The Senior Material Manager is accountable for end‑to‑end material management at the Atlanta warehouse where day‑to‑day warehouse operations are executed by a Third‑Party Logistics (3PL) provider. Operating in a highly manual, low‑automation environment, this role provides strong on‑site leadership, governance, and performance oversight to ensure safety, inventory accuracy, material availability, and cost performance in support of GE Vernova’s operational and customer commitments.

This position will drive inventory strategy, operational discipline, and continuous improvement while partnering closely with the 3PL, Services, Supply Chain, Planning, Finance, and EHS teams. This position will also serve as the Deputy Warehouse Manager.

Operating in a highly manual, low‑automation environment, this role provides strong on‑site leadership, governance, and performance oversight to ensure safety, inventory accuracy, material availability, and cost performance in support of GE Vernova’s operational and customer commitments.

This position will drive inventory strategy, operational discipline, and continuous improvement while partnering closely with the 3PL, Services, Supply Chain, Planning, Finance, and EHS teams.  This position will also serve as the Deputy Warehouse Manager.

Material Management & Inventory Control

Ensure accurate and timely receipt, storage, movement, and issue of materials to support services, materials management, sourcing or customer demand

Own inventory accuracy through cycle count governance, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation

Partner with planning, sourcing, and production teams to prevent material shortages and disruptions

Ensure high levels of inventory accuracy and system integrity, meeting internal control, audit, and compliance requirements

Accountable to ensure that material arriving into the facility from the supply base and factories is fully accounted for and received into inventory in a timely manner

Develop and execute inventory optimization strategies to reduce excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory

Maintain accurate ERP transactions and reporting (Oracle and SAP preferred)

Safety, Quality & Compliance Leadership

Champion GE Vernova’s safety culture across 3PL-operated warehouse activities

Ensure compliance with EHS, Quality, and Gas Power operational standards, including safe material handling and storage

Participate in safety walks, incident investigations, and corrective action follow-up

Ensure warehouse processes support quality, damage prevention, and regulatory compliance

Participate in and drive Lean and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with company objectives

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

Drive practical process improvements in a manual, low‑automation environment

Work with the 3PL leadership to drive standard work, material flows, and warehouse layouts to improve efficiency and reduce waste

Leverage GE Vernova continuous improvement tools (Lean, Kaizen, problem solving) in collaboration with the 3PL

Support cost reduction initiatives while maintaining service and safety standards

Planning, Coordination & Stakeholder Management

Partner cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Planning, Sourcing, Transportation, and Finance

Support labor and capacity planning discussions with the 3PL, especially during peak demand

Provide visibility to risks, constraints, and improvement opportunities to site and regional leadership

Support budgeting, forecasting, and contract management activities related to warehouse operations.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline
Minimum 8–10 years of experience in materials management, inventory control, or warehouse operations, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Minimum 3–5 years of people leadership experience
Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management principles, and ERP systems (Oracle and SAP preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

MBA Preferred
Demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive cross-functional alignment
Demonstrated Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience improving inventory accuracy, reducing E&O, and enhancing material flow

Experience supporting gas turbine, power generation, or heavy industrial manufacturing operations
