The candidate will join the Complex In Vitro Models (CIVM) group within Target Discovery department in GSK’s research organization at the Upper Providence site. CIVM’s mission is to improve predictive and translational value of preclinical models. We strive to improve models to understand translational relevance of new targets, mechanism of action, efficacy, safety and metabolism, aiming to assess these in the same systems whenever possible, and ultimately to use these systems to refine, reduce, and replace animal models.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, qualifying, and validating translational Complex in Vitro Models across the different phases of our drug discovery pipeline at GSK.

- Develop and apply complex in vitro models using organoids and organ-on-a-chip approaches for mechanistic understanding and profiling of drug candidates across respiratory, neurology, hepatology, infectious disease, vaccines & oncology applications.
- Perform cell-based assays in combination with imaging technologies (e.g., confocal fluorescence), biochemical (e.g., ELISA, MSD) and molecular biology (e.g., RNA/DNA analysis) to support projects and different drug modalities.
- Support routine work in a matrix team and cross-functional environment to ensure optimal delivery of project and department objectives to the highest possible scientific standard.
- Write protocols, design and execute laboratory experiments, apply advanced data analysis, interpret data, compile reports, and communicate findings with an emphasis on providing appropriate context in order to progress projects and/or develop platforms.
