Position Overview

 

This position is accountable for providing a broad range of administrative and support functions for the central offices of the department, including filing of all departmental contracts with the Illinois Office of the Comptroller (IOC); invoice processing; and collecting, verifying, and reporting financial information that is required monthly, quarterly, and annually by federal/state statutes and regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Files departmental contracts with the IOC, processes invoices, verifies and reports financial information.
  • Ensures timely and effective administrative services to the central offices of the department, including obligating and accounting services.
  • Monitors the expenditures of operating funds and payment to ensure compliance with applicable laws policies and procedures.
  • Oversees administrative support functions for the central offices to ensure timely responses to requests and the resolution of problems.
  • Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules.  Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Public Finance, Business, Economics, or Public Administration plus four years of experience in governmental accounting, OR 
    Twelve years of experience in governmental accounting
  • In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles, and financial reporting
  • Two years of supervisory experience
     

Preferred Qualifications

•    Working knowledge of governmental operations and modern organizational concepts
•    Strong oral and written communication skills; detail-oriented and well-organized; and ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
��    Ability to maintain harmonious relationships with employees, agency officials, and the general public
