Senior Software Platform Safety Architect, DRIVE Platforms
NVIDIAAbout the role
NVIDIA – “the AI computing company” is developing a ground-breaking AI-based full stack for autonomous transportation and base platform to support it. This requires a ground-breaking approach to functional safety in the underlying DRIVE platform, including scheduling and management of synchronization and diverse HW compute engines, full platform error reporting and degradation, system state management and fail-operational features.
Be ready to question established practices which may no longer be applicable! We are seeking outstanding engineers to lead efforts developing the next generation of safe, AI-powered autonomous driving platforms. The focus is on functional safety of the underlying compute and communications platform on which NVIDIA's autonomous products are built. Do you have a desire to work at the confluence of NVIDIA's application stack and the OEM vehicle platforms? Come and be part of a team developing and aligning safety architecture and requirements across NVIDIA and with all of our customers!
What you'll be doing:
Work closely with other teams of safety engineers both at NVIDIA and our customers to derive Base Platform Safety Requirements through analysis of Technical Safety Requirements and the capabilities of the HW and SW platform.
Analyze and refine the safety architecture down the left side of the V-Model by establishing requirement traceability from the Application to the DRIVE Platform
Develop technical safety concepts for Platform Functions such as Global Time Synchronization, Graph Execution, and start-up / shutdown functionality.
We will look to you to ensure the integration of the Autonomous Driving Application and the underlying platform services meets all defined safety goals.
Identify opportunities for automation to improve efficiency.
What we need to see:
BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
5+ years (or equivalent) experience in systems architecture or related fields.
Experience working across company boundaries as development partners.
We seek technically strong engineers who bring experience in safety analysis of embedded systems at the Hardware and Software Level and can find the right level of abstraction adapted to the tasks in hand.
Ways to stand out:
Hands-on experience with systems engineering methodologies such as model-based approaches, requirements management, peer review processes, requirements management in an agile development environment, risk management, requirements verification and traceability, validation and verification, and architectural decomposition.
Strong background in SW & HW architecture of embedded compute systems, Automotive ECU architecture is appreciated.
Experience in development of automation for safety analysis tasks
Familiarity with safety standards (ISO 26262, IEC 61508, ISO/PAS 21448) and experience in the redaction of safety collateral such as safety manuals and safety reports
Ability to understand and perform high-level analysis of sophisticated C++ codebases and API specifications at different levels, knowledge of embedded operating systems (e.g QNX) is especially valued.
You will also be eligible for equity and benefits. NVIDIA accepts applications on an ongoing basis.
